Arabic-language reference guide to unfair dismissal in Algeria under Law No. 90-11 of 1990 on labour relations (disputes under Law No. 90-04). General legal information, not legal advice — verify with Algerian counsel. Unfair dismissal (Art. 73-4): reinstatement or compensation of at least six months' salary.
Algeria has no classic severance gratuity for ordinary resignation. Dismissal is lawful only for serious misconduct (Art. 73); outside those grounds a dismissal is presumed abusive, and the remedy (Art. 73-4) is reinstatement or compensation of at least six months' salary (often 8–12 months in practice). Notice periods are set by collective agreement, not a fixed statutory figure. The limitation to sue after a failed conciliation is six months. A discussed 2023–2024 reform has not replaced Law 90-11.
