Legal AI Adoption Timeline (2020–2030)
Adoption curves across three segments: early adopters (Big Law, innovation leaders), mainstream (mid-size firms, in-house), and laggards (small firms, government).
Illustrative estimate - a directional figure for scenario framing, not a measured benchmark. Do not read these as measured per-vendor results.
As a scenario, the timeline models three cohorts on an S-curve rather than a straight line. Early adopters lead throughout, reaching 88% by 2025 and 99% by 2028, while mainstream firms and laggards start later and stay behind: in the 2026 estimate mainstream sits at 65% versus just 28% for laggards. By 2030 the gap narrows sharply (mainstream 97%, laggards 85%), though laggards still trail. The practical read: early-mover advantage looks temporary in this scenario, but full convergence isn't reached even by 2030.
