    The short version

Robin AI is strong on contracts: drafting, review, risk scoring and a Microsoft Word add-in for big in-house teams. But it is contract-specific by design, no legal research, no billing, no public pricing, and its commercial future is unsettled after a hard 2025. HAQQ does the contract work and the rest of the practice, research, matters, invoicing, at a price you can read off the page.

    More than contracts

Robin AI is deliberately narrow: contracts only, no legal research or memo work. HAQQ handles drafting and review alongside research, matters and billing, so the whole practice lives in one tool.

    Pricing you can actually see

Robin AI is contact-sales with no self-serve tier. HAQQ publishes its plans, so a solo or boutique firm can sign up and start today without a procurement cycle.

Built for firms that bill clients

Robin AI serves enterprise legal departments and lacks invoicing. HAQQ adds practice management and billing built for firms that charge clients, and works in jurisdictions and languages Robin doesn't cover.

What Robin AI built before 2025

Robin AI was a genuinely capable contract-review platform before its 2025 crisis: an AI assistant embedded directly inside Microsoft Word, backed by a human-in-the-loop managed-services layer, founded by former Clifford Chance disputes lawyer Richard Robinson and headquartered in London. At its peak it served 13 Fortune 500 companies, including UBS, PwC, and PepsiCo, and said it ran on AWS with GDPR compliance and ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certification.

The Word-native design was widely credited with removing a real adoption barrier in legal contract AI, lawyers could redline without ever leaving the word processor they already used daily, which is why Robin landed inside large in-house legal departments while browser-based competitors stalled at procurement. That product design remains genuinely instructive, independent of what happened to the company built around it.

    The 2025-2026 collapse, dated

The commercial picture changed fast. In late October 2025, Robin AI was reported listed on a UK insolvency marketplace following layoffs after a fundraise fell through. In December 2025, London AI-forward law firm Scissero acquired Robin AI's managed-services arm, nearly doubling Scissero's headcount, but explicitly did not acquire Robin's software or engineering assets. Per a secondary source (Pangea.app's glossary), Microsoft then absorbed Robin AI's engineering team in January 2026 specifically to strengthen Word's built-in legal AI features; Robin had reached roughly $10M ARR and a $16M pipeline but could not close a $50M round needed to cover multi-year losses.

As of this writing, robinai.com is still live and marketing normally. But Pangea's own FAQ is direct about what that does and doesn't mean: "The standalone SaaS product's continuity is uncertain," and existing customers are advised to verify support status directly rather than assume business as usual. That is the honest framing for anyone evaluating Robin AI today, not that the product is dead, but that a firm signing a new contract with it is buying into real, dated uncertainty about who supports it and for how long.

What this means if you're evaluating Robin AI today

This is not a category-specific failure. Robin AI's collapse illustrates a problem the whole enterprise legal-AI market has to manage: expensive sales cycles, heavy implementation and managed-services overhead, and thin margins have strained even well-funded, Fortune-500-validated vendors. Every company in this space, HAQQ included, carries some version of that unit-economics risk; the difference is how each vendor is funded and structured to absorb it.

For a firm actually choosing a contract-AI tool this quarter, the practical takeaway is to ask directly: who supports this product in twelve months, and is that answer written down anywhere. Robin AI's own advisory language recommends exactly that verification step. HAQQ's answer is a platform built around drafting, review, matters, and billing as one system rather than a single-feature product layered with a human-review service, with pricing published rather than negotiated case by case.

    Which one should you pick?

    Choose Robin AI

    • Your team is already deep in Microsoft Word for contract workflows and values an AI assistant that lives inside the document rather than a separate workspace, the design choice that drove Robin's original adoption.
    • You want a managed-services layer where qualified lawyers review every AI-flagged issue, not just software.
    • You're comfortable confirming current support and contract terms directly with Robin AI or Scissero before committing, given the ownership changes since December 2025.

    Choose HAQQ

    • You want a vendor whose product, engineering team, and commercial continuity live under one roof, not split across an acquirer, an acqui-hire, and an uncertain standalone SaaS entity.
    • You need legal research and matter/billing management alongside contract review, not a contracts-only tool.
    • You want native Arabic support and jurisdiction-aware work across 200+ countries, outside Robin AI's UK/enterprise, English-language footprint.
    • You want transparent published pricing rather than an enterprise "Request Demo" motion.

    Switching from Robin AI

If you are currently a Robin AI customer, the first step is not choosing a replacement, it's confirming what support you actually have left. Robin AI's own advisory guidance (via Pangea.app) tells existing customers to verify support status directly rather than assume continuity, since the software and engineering assets were not part of the Scissero deal. Once that is confirmed, migrating contract templates, playbooks, and flagged-issue history out of Robin AI is the practical next step before evaluating a replacement.

    1. Contact Robin AI or Scissero directly to confirm current support status and contract terms.
    2. Export playbook configurations and contract templates before any service interruption.
    3. Migrate active managed-services cases to a new review workflow if Robin's SLA-based review was in use.
    4. Evaluate replacements based on total workspace coverage (research, matters, billing), not contract review alone.

    The verdict

Robin AI's Word-integrated contract review was well designed, but its standalone SaaS continuity is uncertain after 2025's insolvency and split sale; HAQQ offers one stable platform with research and billing built in.

Best for: Teams already relying on Robin AI for Word-based contract review who are comfortable verifying its current support status directly.

    Preguntas Frecuentes

    Is Robin AI still operating?

Robin AI hit serious financial trouble in late 2025; its managed-services arm was acquired by Scissero and part of its engineering team moved to Microsoft. The software product was not part of that deal, so its availability is uncertain, worth confirming before you commit.

Does Robin AI do legal research?

No. Robin AI is contract-specific and explicitly does not cover legal research, memo drafting or broader legal work. HAQQ includes legal research alongside contract drafting and review.

What does HAQQ add over Robin AI?

Legal research, billing and invoicing, transparent self-serve pricing, and multi-language support, plus the same contract drafting, review and risk identification Robin offers, in one workspace built for firms that bill clients.

    Is Robin AI shutting down?

Not confirmed as fully shut down, but its situation is serious: Robin AI was reported on a UK insolvency marketplace in October 2025, and split into two parts, a managed-services arm sold to Scissero in December 2025, and an engineering team absorbed by Microsoft in January 2026. Pangea.app's own glossary states 'the standalone SaaS product's continuity is uncertain.'

Can I still buy Robin AI's software?

As of this research, robinai.com is still live and marketing normally, but the software and engineering assets were not part of the Scissero acquisition. Anyone evaluating Robin AI today should verify current support and contract terms directly rather than assume business as usual.

Why did Robin AI struggle despite having Fortune 500 clients?

Robin AI had reached roughly $10M ARR and a $16M sales pipeline but could not close a $50M funding round needed to cover multi-year operating losses, a reminder that enterprise legal-AI unit economics are difficult even with real revenue and marquee logos.

What happened to Robin AI's team?

Robin AI's managed-services arm, the human-in-the-loop contract review business, was acquired by Scissero in December 2025. Its engineering team was separately absorbed by Microsoft in January 2026, reportedly to strengthen Word's built-in legal AI capabilities.
