Arabic-language reference guide to residential tenancy, rent and eviction in Qatar under Law No. 4 of 2008 on Property Leasing. General legal information, not legal advice — verify with Qatari counsel or the Rent Disputes Settlement Committee (hotline 184).
In Qatar there is no active statutory rent cap for residential leases (rent is market-driven on renewal, and the Council of Ministers retains power to impose caps). Eviction is limited to defined grounds (non-payment, unauthorized subletting, breach/public order, demolition of a building ≥15 years old, owner-occupation with 6 months' notice). Security deposits may not exceed 2 months' rent. Disputes go to the Rent Disputes Settlement Committee, not the ordinary courts.
