Strong workflow automation, no published price

Actionstep's pricing page carries no static dollar figures at all. Every plan and module is marked "Priced per user plus implementation fees," with the page routing every visitor toward a pricing request form, a sales contact page, or a demo booking. There is no tier a prospective customer can price without talking to someone first.

That matches a genuine strength: Actionstep's workflow automation and matter-management tooling are mature and configurable, built for mid-size firms that want to encode firm-specific processes. The tradeoff is that finding out what any of it costs, for a firm of a given size, takes a sales conversation rather than a page visit.

Actionstep is adding real AI, scoped to operations

Actionstep is not standing still on AI. In August 2026 it released Actionstep Intelligence, a firmwide business-insights layer, alongside Acumen for AI-assisted reporting, Scout, an OpenAI-powered support assistant trained only on Actionstep's own help content, and Trace, an AI time-capture module that auto-generates billable narratives. It has also announced a bi-directional integration with a separate product called AI Legal Assistant for document drafting.

Read together, that is a real AI investment, but it is scoped to firm operations: reporting, support, and time capture, plus a drafting capability sourced from a third-party integration rather than built natively. It is a materially different shape of AI from a platform where drafting, contract review and legal research are native, first-party features.

    Jurisdiction and language stay narrow

Actionstep's public materials and target markets are English-language, concentrated in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US. There is no published multi-jurisdictional legal-research capability or Arabic-language support, and nothing in its 2026 AI announcements changes that scope.

HAQQ is built jurisdiction-first and language-first from day one: native Arabic with right-to-left support across 9 languages, and legal reasoning that accounts for which of 200+ countries' law actually applies to a given matter.

    Which one should you pick?

    Choose Actionstep

    • You run a mid-size firm in Australia, New Zealand, the UK or the US and want deep, configurable workflow automation for firm-specific operational processes.
    • Actionstep Intelligence, Acumen's reporting layer, or Trace's AI time capture solve a real operational pain point for you, and you don't need native legal-drafting AI in the same platform.
    • You're comfortable running a per-user-plus-implementation pricing conversation with sales rather than reading a price off a page.
    • You already have, or are willing to add, a separate document-drafting tool via Actionstep's third-party AI Legal Assistant integration.

    Choose HAQQ

    • You want to see actual prices before a sales call, HAQQ publishes every tier, Actionstep publishes none.
    • You want AI legal drafting, contract review and research built natively into the platform, not sourced through a separate vendor integration.
    • You need Arabic-language support or multi-jurisdiction reasoning across 200+ countries, which Actionstep's English-first, four-market focus doesn't offer.
    • You want one platform for practice management and legal AI, rather than practice management plus an AI-operations layer plus a bolted-on drafting integration.

    Switching from Actionstep

Actionstep holds your matters, workflows and billing configuration, so moving off it means exporting real operational data, not just switching a login. Firms with heavily customized Actionstep workflows should expect the workflow-rebuild step to take longer than the data export itself.

    1. Export matter records, documents, time entries and invoices from Actionstep before making any cancellation decision.
    2. Document your current Actionstep workflow rules and automations so they can be rebuilt rather than reconstructed from memory.
    3. Upload firm precedent documents into HAQQ's knowledge base to ground AI drafting and research in your own prior work.
    4. Pilot HAQQ on new matters for one full billing cycle before retiring Actionstep for existing ones.

    The verdict

Actionstep's 2026 AI push is real but operational, reporting, time capture, support, while HAQQ's AI is native to drafting and research, and HAQQ publishes prices Actionstep does not.

Best for: Firms that want AI drafting, contract review and legal research natively in the same platform as practice management, with pricing they can check without a sales call.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is Actionstep better than HAQQ?

Actionstep offers strong workflow automation. HAQQ matches those capabilities and adds AI-powered legal drafting, research, and multi-jurisdictional support - a more future-proof choice.

    Does Actionstep have AI features?

Actionstep has limited or no built-in AI capabilities. HAQQ's Justinian engine provides AI drafting, research, contract review, and analysis natively.

    Does Actionstep support Arabic?

No. Actionstep does not support Arabic or RTL layouts. HAQQ supports 7 languages including native Arabic RTL.

    What is Actionstep Intelligence?

Actionstep Intelligence is an AI layer Actionstep released in August 2026 that surfaces firmwide business insights and revenue opportunities inside its practice-management platform. It sits alongside Acumen (AI-assisted reporting), Scout (an AI support assistant), and Trace (AI time capture), all operational tools, not legal drafting or research AI.

Does Actionstep offer legal drafting or contract review?

Not natively as of our September 2026 check. Actionstep has announced a bi-directional integration with a separate product, AI Legal Assistant, to bring document-drafting capability into its workflow, a third-party addition rather than a built-in feature.

How much does Actionstep actually cost?

Actionstep does not publish pricing. Its pricing page states plans are "priced per user plus implementation fees" and routes every visitor to a pricing-request form or a sales call. HAQQ publishes pricing for every tier.
