Tenancy, Rent & Eviction in Bahrain: Your Rights (2026)

Arabic-language reference guide to residential tenancy, rent and eviction in Bahrain under the Real Estate Lease Law No. 27 of 2014. General legal information, not legal advice — verify with Bahraini counsel. Registration of the lease is a precondition to using the Rents Disputes Committee.

Bahrain's Law 27 of 2014 is tenant-protective: rent cannot rise within the first 2 years, then is capped at 5% (residential) and only up to five times over the lease term, with 3 months' registered-letter notice. A residential tenant generally cannot be required to vacate during the first 3 years. Eviction grounds are listed in Article 38 (e.g. two months' non-payment); owner-occupation needs 6 months' notice. Deposit: an advance up to 3 months plus a security deposit up to 1 month (Article 19).
