Beyond Legal Professionals, it runs Tax & Accounting, Risk & Fraud and Reuters News, and it has extended its CoCounsel AI brand across all of them — Tax, Audit and Accounting lines built on Checkpoint now carry the same "CoCounsel" name as the legal product, marketed as one company-wide AI brand rather than a legal-only feature.

That's a genuine advantage for a large enterprise that wants one AI vendor relationship spanning legal, tax and accounting instead of separate contracts with separate vendors. HAQQ doesn't compete on that axis — it is a single-vertical legal platform, and it isn't trying to sell your finance department anything. For a firm or in-house team whose only professional-services relationship is legal, that focus is the point, not a gap.

Thomson Reuters' legal-AI foothold traces back to a single deal: a $650M cash acquisition of Casetext, completed in August 2023, which gave the company both the CoCounsel product and its generative-AI legal capability in one purchase rather than years of in-house R&D. Investor disclosures show the Legal Professionals segment growing organically for full-year 2025 even as reported revenue dipped from divesting FindLaw — a scale question best answered from the primary filing rather than a precise figure quoted here.

That scale funds continuous reinvestment and lets Thomson Reuters buy category-leading technology outright when building it in-house would take too long. HAQQ can't out-acquire a company that size, and isn't trying to; it competes on being AI-native from the start rather than an AI layer stitched onto a decades-old research business through M&A.

Thomson Reuters' own marketing isn't fully consistent about its own age: its CoCounsel-branded page describes "Trusted AI built on 175 years of Thomson Reuters knowledge," while its general About Us page describes the company as trusted "for over 150 years." Neither claim is necessarily wrong on its own terms — heritage marketing across this entire incumbent tier tends to round generously — but it's worth knowing the number moves depending on which page you're reading.

The geography tells a similar story too: Thomson Reuters' own quarterly disclosures show its Legal Professionals segment revenue concentrated overwhelmingly in the US, with Canada and the rest of the world each a small fraction of that by comparison. A global company's legal arm can still be, in practice, a US business with international marketing gloss. HAQQ is built the other way: for MENA and emerging-market jurisdictions and Arabic as a first language, not a US core with global branding on top.
