Wordsmith vs HAQQ

Wordsmith has raised several funding rounds since 2024, most recently a large Series B in June 2026 with Highland Europe and Index Ventures, later extended with additional capital from Intact Private Capital and FT Ventures. It's used by more than 500 organizations, including named enterprise customers BT, Canva, Financial Times, Sage, Starling, and Trip.com.

Founded in 2024 in Edinburgh by CEO Ross McNairn, a lawyer-turned-engineer, Wordsmith has since expanded to London and opened a New York office alongside its Series A, growth that tracks the demand it's found among in-house legal teams specifically.

Wordsmith's real differentiator is where it lives: deeply integrated into the business tools, Slack, Gmail, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, where a sales team or business unit actually originates a contract request, rather than requiring someone to open a separate legal portal.

The company claims that automatically clearing contracts inside a company's negotiation playbook and escalating only exceptions to a lawyer cuts contract review and processing time substantially. Those are vendor-published figures, not independently audited, and exceptions still route to a human lawyer, the same reliance on human review found across the category, HAQQ included.
