Garfield AI vs HAQQ

Garfield.Law Ltd is a real SRA-authorised law firm, the first the Solicitors Regulation Authority approved (May 2025) to deliver legal services entirely through AI. It does exactly one thing: recovering unpaid invoices up to £10,000 through the English small-claims court, from a polite chaser through to a letter before action and, if needed, the claim itself.

For that one service, at that price point, Garfield is not really a comparison to HAQQ. It is a firm you instruct for a single narrow claim, not a platform your own team runs across a practice.

Garfield's own site prices a polite chaser letter at £2.00, with copy reading: "Correspondence Begin with a polite chaser to nudge the debtor. £2.00 Your cost today." Fees are recoverable from the debtor if the claim succeeds, within the usual small-claims cost limits.

That pricing only covers debt recovery in England and Wales. HAQQ's published pricing covers a full practice, drafting, review, research, matters and billing, across a jurisdiction Garfield does not reach for a service Garfield does not offer.

Garfield's privacy policy states its contracts include "terms that prohibit using your data to train AI models," and that claim data is retained for defined periods: claim records for "fifteen years from the last activity on the claim," identity-verification data for six years after the relationship ends. Those are Garfield's own published commitments, not our characterisation of them.

It remains a debt-recovery specialist, not a general practice tool: no contract drafting, no legal research, and nothing for a firm running matters beyond this one claim type.
