Lawvable (branded on-product as "Lawve AI") is a genuine open-source registry of AI agent skills for legal work, reusable, practitioner-authored instruction sets that plug into Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini. Skills are contributed by practicing lawyers, in-house counsel, academics, and legal technologists, spanning practice areas from NDA review to GDPR privacy policies to due-diligence checklists. Lawvable has a publicly announced partnership with Anthropic, framed as bringing expert-built legal skills into Claude.

It's free to use: skills are described as downloadable under permissive licenses, and individual contributors set their own specific license terms. This is infrastructure for people already building or customizing their own AI legal workflows, not an end-user legal AI assistant in itself.

Lawvable's real advantage is the sheer breadth and diversity of niche, practitioner-authored workflows, organized into 20+ practice-area categories, each tagged by contributor and jurisdiction, contributed at zero cost by named individual experts. That's a crowdsourced long tail of narrow use cases a single vertical product like HAQQ, built by one team, cannot match in raw variety or speed of community contribution.

The tradeoff is accountability: skills are reviewed before publication but not independently audited at the depth a commercial vendor applies, so quality and accuracy vary by contributor, an 'AI output requires review' principle that applies here arguably more acutely than for a single accountable vendor. And a skill is just instructions: no firm memory, no billing, no jurisdiction enforcement, no matter management, the same gap true of the whole skill-registry category, not unique to Lawvable.
