    TL;DR

LexisNexis is one of the two dominant legal research databases, and as of 2026 its Protege AI assistant threads across Lexis+, Practical Guidance, and other products for drafting, summarization, and agentic workflows. But Protege isn't sold on its own, pricing is quote-based, and coverage centers on US, UK, and EU law in English. HAQQ is AI-native from day one, sold standalone with transparent pricing, jurisdiction-aware for MENA and emerging markets, runs in Arabic, and offers an on-premise option.

AI layered onto a legacy database

Protege sits across Lexis+, Practical Guidance, and other LexisNexis products, but it isn't sold standalone and stays tied to those legacy platforms. HAQQ was built AI-native, so the model runs through every matter instead of sitting beside a decades-old research engine.

    Research, not a practice OS

LexisNexis has no practice management or billing built around Protege. HAQQ ties every AI action to a billable matter with a defensible audit trail.

    US/UK/EU focus, no self-host

LexisNexis is strongest in US, UK, and EU law in English, with quote-based add-on pricing and no on-premise legal-AI option. HAQQ runs in Arabic and English, enforces MENA jurisdictions, publishes pricing, and can be deployed on-premise.

A content moat measured in decades, not features

LexisNexis has spent decades building outward from print reporters into what it now calls a database of more than 200 billion documents and records, with 4 million new documents added every day, spanning primary law, secondary sources, litigation analytics and Practical Guidance. That kind of coverage is not something a challenger platform reproduces in a product cycle, and firms that have built research workflows around Lexis+ citators and analytics have real switching costs to weigh.

HAQQ is not trying to out-document LexisNexis, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Instead it asks a narrower question: does a two-partner Cairo firm or a Riyadh in-house team need 200 billion English-language US, UK and EU documents, or does it need an AI that drafts, reviews and researches inside the jurisdiction it actually practices in, in the language it actually works in? For most of HAQQ's market, the answer points away from the bigger database.

Pricing you have to ask for, and an ROI figure LexisNexis paid for

LexisNexis states plainly that pricing for Lexis+ with Protégé "varies based on factors such as the size of your organization, specific capabilities required, and the scope of content access", there is no price list, only a sales conversation. The one headline figure in wide circulation comes from a Forrester Consulting ROI study LexisNexis itself commissioned and published through its own newsroom in May 2025; it may well be directionally true, but it is not an independent audit, and reading it as one overstates its weight.

HAQQ publishes its plan pricing on its own site and ships free tools usable without an account, so a firm can answer "is this worth it" from its own numbers rather than a vendor-funded study.

Buying its way into new markets, one country at a time

In April 2026 RELX, LexisNexis's parent, agreed to acquire the French legaltech company Doctrine to extend civil-law coverage into France, Italy, Germany and Spain, where Doctrine already serves more than 27,000 daily legal professionals. It's a sensible move for a research incumbent expanding market by market, and it also confirms that MENA and Arabic-language jurisdictions aren't yet on that map.

HAQQ was built jurisdiction-aware across 200+ countries and Arabic-native from day one, rather than assembling coverage acquisition by acquisition. For a firm working across multiple emerging-market jurisdictions today, that's a different starting point, not just a smaller one.

    Which one should you pick?

    Choose LexisNexis

    • Your firm already runs on Lexis+ and has built research workflows, citators and litigation analytics around it that would be expensive to unwind.
    • Your practice is concentrated in US, UK or EU common-law research, where LexisNexis's depth of primary and secondary sources is real and hard to match.
    • You need Practical Guidance-style practitioner content alongside case law, and value one long-established vendor relationship over a newer one.

    Choose HAQQ

    • You want to see actual plan pricing and try free tools before any sales conversation, rather than a custom quote.
    • You work in Arabic, or across MENA and emerging-market jurisdictions LexisNexis hasn't yet built out.
    • You want an AI that drafts, reviews and manages the matter, not an add-on layered onto a research subscription.

    Switching from LexisNexis

Moving off LexisNexis is rarely a full migration, because most of what you built there is search history, saved folders and alerts rather than firm records. What's worth carrying over is the substance: the matters, clauses and precedent you've been researching.

    1. Export or note the saved searches, alerts and folders you rely on inside Lexis+ before your renewal date.
    2. Load the underlying documents and precedent you actually cite into a HAQQ knowledge base, organized per matter or client.
    3. Run your two or three most common research queries in both tools against a matter you already know the answer to, and compare.
    4. Keep a Lexis+ seat for US, UK or EU primary-source lookups if your practice still needs them, and use HAQQ for jurisdictions it doesn't cover.

    The verdict

LexisNexis is the better buy for US, UK or EU common-law research on an existing Lexis+ subscription. HAQQ is the better buy for transparent pricing and AI-native work in Arabic or across MENA and emerging markets.

Best for: Firms of 2-50 lawyers working across MENA and emerging-market jurisdictions, or in Arabic, who want one AI-native platform rather than a research subscription plus an AI add-on.

    Perguntas Frequentes

Is LexisNexis Protege a standalone product?

No. Protege is an AI assistant layer that powers capabilities inside Lexis+, Practical Guidance, and other LexisNexis products; it isn't sold on its own. HAQQ is one standalone platform with AI throughout.

Does LexisNexis support Arabic or MENA jurisdictions?

Its coverage centers on US, UK, and EU law in English, with no published Arabic support. HAQQ is built for MENA and emerging markets and runs natively in Arabic and English.

    How is LexisNexis priced?

LexisNexis states pricing 'varies based on factors such as the size of your organization, specific capabilities required, and the scope of content access', there is no published rate for Protégé or the underlying Lexis+ subscription, only a sales quote. HAQQ publishes transparent plan pricing plus free tools.

Is LexisNexis's document library really bigger than what HAQQ can offer?

Yes, and we won't pretend otherwise. LexisNexis's own materials describe a database of more than 200 billion documents and records, built up over decades. HAQQ's advantage isn't size, it's fit: jurisdiction-aware answers and native Arabic for the markets LexisNexis's coverage doesn't reach.

Is the ROI figure LexisNexis cites for Lexis+ AI independently verified?

No. It comes from a Forrester Consulting study that LexisNexis itself commissioned and published through its own newsroom in May 2025. That doesn't make it false, but it isn't an independent audit either, and we'd want our own numbers held to the same standard.

Is LexisNexis expanding beyond the US, UK and EU?

Yes, in April 2026 its parent company RELX agreed to acquire the French legaltech Doctrine to add civil-law coverage in France, Italy, Germany and Spain. That's real progress, though it still doesn't reach MENA or Arabic-language jurisdictions, which is where HAQQ is built to operate.

Can I buy LexisNexis's Protégé AI on its own, without a Lexis+ subscription?

LexisNexis doesn't publish pricing for either, so we can't say precisely, but Protégé is positioned as an assistant layered across Lexis+ and other LexisNexis products rather than a standalone purchase. HAQQ is one platform, sold on its own, with published pricing.
